Welcome to our School

Dear Parent

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for the messages of thanks and best wishes that I have received in recent days. I would like thank the three groups who have worked with me to make Cavehill an excellent school, over the five years I have been in charge.

The staff have been wonderful and were always receptive to new initiatives. They are a talented group of teachers and classroom assistants who have been a joy to get to know as professionals and people. You can rest assured that your children's education is safe in their hands. I would like to pay special tribute to Miss Johnston who throughout my time at the school has been the fabric that holds the whole school community together. She is a special lady and I wish her a great two months in charge and a wonderful and well-earned retirement.

The pupils have been a credit to you all. They have excelled both academically and in many extra-curricular areas. In a large school like Cavehill we have many visitors. The children's manners and confidence are always evident and numerous guests have commented on their ability to communicate effectively. I wish all the boys and girls great success in their future and I look forward to meeting them as young adults.

Cavehill has a wonderful group of parents and it has been a pleasure to get to know you all. I have enjoyed meeting so many of you in the mornings and the kind words have always been appreciated. The PTA has continued to grow over the five years and I must pay special tribute to their innovative initiatives such as a parent friendly P1 Induction Booklet, Parenting Classes and First Aid Classes. Their fund raising activities have been of great benefit to the school and I have enjoyed helping them out whenever possible.

In conclusion thank you for allowing me to lead Cavehill for the last five years, it has been an honour and a pleasure and I have been very proud to be your principal.

I wish you all the best for the future

Liam McGuckin
